Favorite personal gaming moments

The idea behind this, assuming there's not already a similar thread, is to talk about your favorite gameplay moments in games. Things that could only happen to you, not something the game provided. Funny moments, weird glitches, accidental moments of pure skill, lucky moments, etc. In some ways it could be a topic seen as the opposite of Deathtone's gaming misfortunes topic. I'll give my favorite two to start it off, but I think you can interpret this however you want. Also mine will probably be long because of how I explain what happens.

So hopefully those give you an idea of things for this thread, assuming anyone bothered to read them. Like I said, you can post whatever you think fits. It doesn't have to be funny, random things. Just whatever unique event happened to you that you can remember.

Can’t think of anything specific but some of my favourite gameplay moments came from f’ing around on Red Dead Redemption online and GTA online with a friend of mine. Sorry can’t think a specific example, but just remember us crying from laughter from the randomness we encountered

Here are some in MP games

Being the last Person in Last Of Us and getting that special loot box with the sword in it and taking out the rest of their team
Being Mercy in Overwatch and coming in last second and getting a 3+ person Ressurection and winning the game
Halo 2 on Relic when you get the flag from the top of the base to your base without dropping the flag
In Destiny Using my Fire Hammer Speical and wiping a team out in Control
Lastly, This one time I was at an EB Games (now Gamestop) and I was in a double dash tournament, it was the finales and the last lap I got double red shells 4 times in a row and I was playing like shit but came back at the last second and won. I'll never forget the look on the guys face, he was like. Are you fucking kidding me?

I was playing RE5 online co-op story mode with a buddy for the first time. There's a part where there's a bunch of lickers sleeping or whatever behind glass walls and the character's are like "we need to be quiet not to alert them!" My buddy says over the headset "Did we just get a checkpoint?" and I was like "Yeah, right when we walked in" and then behind me I hear him unload a shotgun into the glass. Turn around and he's charging towards me being chased by a half dozen lickers. Chaos and yelling as we try to get to the elevator without dying. He did it for the lulz -- great moment.

Hahaha I love it. Almost like a modern day Leroy Jankins situation.

Game: The Division Beta

I'm wandering the Dark Zone alone and I'm scared as hell of a gang of players jumping me and stealing my stuff. Specifically at one point I look down the street and see a gang of players jumping another solo player and I immediately run in the opposite direction. Few minutes pass and I go into a department store populated with high level NPC enemies. I start to fight them and as I am, a random player also running the DZ solo enters the store and helps me take down the NPCs. When its over, we stare at one another and I throw up the "hands up dont shoot emote" and we kinda both read each other's minds. "You cool?" "We cool bro." So we start looting the weapons we found and out of my periphery, guess what I see? That same gang of players from earlier that were attacking other players had made their way into the store. I look over at the random that helped me and again, we read each other's minds. "We still cool bro?" "YEP." "Cool. RUN!!" We both leap out of the store just as the gang start shooting at us. Me and this random are dodging bullets and running down the street as the gang continues trying to shoot us. We run through another group of NPC high level enemies and they start shooting at us. Long story short, me and this random make it to an extraction point, heal one another, extract our loot, bid our farewells and go our separate ways.

Game: Battlefield 4

Playing online in one server and through the course of like 3 or 4 matches, there was this one player on the other team that was just a pain in my ass. Every time I started getting on a decent streak, they'd end it. However, if they started getting hot, I'd end it. We just went back and forth. Didnt matter what class we were playing either. Could be sniper duels, could be tank duels, could be just running into them randomly and gunning it out at close quarters. Every match, we were usually near the top of the scoreboard on our teams. After about 3 or 4 matches, the guy finally leaves the server. I then get a message from the guy over Xbox Live saying "Good games man, you're a good player." I couldn't help but smile because I half expected some angry raging message calling me every insult or racial slur under the sun. Ended up sending the guy a reply returning the sentiment. Mutual respect and gamesmanship man.

Game: Overwatch

Anytime I'm playing Ana and I have my ULT ready. I rarely have my headset on when I play online with randoms but whenever I have my ult, I usually spam the message that my ult is ready. I can recall plenty of times where I'll stand in front of our spawn point spamming that message and a teammate playing Genji, or Soldier 76, or Reaper or someone stops in front of me, hits the "my ultimate is ready" and "acknowledge" message and we both run into the fray. They know what's up and as soon as we see the enemies, I hit them with the Ana boost, they pop their ultimate and I watch the kill assists just rack up.

- After spending several minutes setting up traps and tagging enemies to take out an outpost in FarCry 3, I am crouched on a cliff overlooking it, waiting for the right moment to take my first shot. Suddenly, from the other end of the outpost, I hear gunfire and screaming; a tiger had wandered in and started attacking. A couple minutes later, the tiger took out most of the enemies, so I just had to cleanup the last two guys. All that planning was basically for nothing.

- Walking in the wilderness of Skyrim, I came across a sabertooth tiger. I begin to fight it and, much to my surprise, the first swipe of my blade sent him flying high into the sky then crashing down several yards in front of me, killing it. Skyrim's glitches lead to quite a few funny moments like that.

- Halo 3 multiplayer had too many great moments to name them all, like the time I sniped a flag carrier in mid-air after they launched off the man cannon in Valhalla.

Another one, in Rocket League...

Was just playing casual, went down 3-0 with not much time left. My teammates left, other team was talking smack. Scored 3 straight goals and won it in overtime. And I'm all like "Yeah, real players never quit, we come back and win!" etc.

So of course, next game, playing the same guys. Go down 3-0 AGAIN. And I'm frustrated because of my comments from the last game, I'm gonna look like a schmuck. Teammates dropped. Get matched up with some new guys and turn it right around, come back and win the game AGAIN. Then I really let them have it. I made sure to quit after that with a great victory speech. Made sure I left the server at that point in case it happened again, haha.

I know there is so many but I am struggling to pull one out.

I remember one when I was young and playing GTA Vice City. I was just driving around trying to see how many stars I could get. So I manage to get 4 stars and its getting hard to get around without police trying to crash me so I duck into the airport and as I am driving around trying to dodge cops I come across one of the trucks that has the ramp on the back and so I jump into it for the first time.

I took off and escaped out to the main road and one of the swat vans hit me from the side and I almost went into the water but managed to brake just in time right on the end. At this point, I hadn't realised that the ramp on the back actually works and as 6 police cars tried to ram my back then drove right up and over and then proceeded to launch into the water.

It was hilarious and eye opening all at once. From that point on I experimented with trying to use those trucks to get cars into weird spots on the map.

This was more of a group moment, we were away for the weekend and a friend bought his ps3 and GTA5 and we spent the better half of three hours trying to get into the army base and steal the fighter jet.

By this time, we had all had a few turns and a few drinks when one of my mates finally got in, got to the fighter jet and took off. In a very surreal moment, the radio station changed song and Danger Zone by Kenny Loggins started playing and we all started to cheer. Very surreal but really awesome moment.

That's awesome, love a bit of well time K Log!

Mine's a lot more dull, but it's beating one of the driving missions in Gran Turismo 4 by a thousandth of a second. You're in the Takata Honda Super GT racecar with one lap around Suzuka to overtake a bunch of cars. It being Gran Turismo, there was equal amounts of frustration to go with the joy of the challenge. You had a wait 150 seconds on the grid while each of the opponent cars took off one by one. By the time the clock is ready to go, you've out of the zone where you're chomping at the bit ready to tear around the track.

Still after many attempts on being disqualified for spinning off course (and having to restart and wait a further 150 seconds on the line) I finally nailed the lap, coming out of Casino triangle and could see the speck of a classic Fiat 500 around 100m from the finish line. I stamped on the throttle and caught the oversteer with an arm full of opposite lock. Thundering towards the line, making sure to give the 500 a wide berth, we crossed the line side by side and the time came up -0.001.

The first time I beat Final Fantasy IX. I was at the final boss and he took out my teammates. He then cast berserk on me. For those that don't know. It means I'm not in control of my character. He just auto attacks. 3 turns later I beat the boss. When I was so sure I'd loose. Lol It had me on the edge of my seat.

This one I actually have evidence of. Unfortunately it's only a picture and not video. It was on X360 so I couldn't record video back then.

Here's the quick explanation. I was playing GTA V and randomly driving around. I hit a ramp and when I landed my car did a couple of flips. It ended up coming to a stop on its back bumper and began spinning like a top. I left off the stick to make it stop spinning and it just stopped like this...

I got out of the car so that I could take a picture, but the car never fell over. It blew my mind because the chances of it were astronomical.

Everyone else's posts so far have been great. Feel free to keep them coming. ThisIsFine

There's so many but here's one that always stands out:

When I was about 18, I bought a mega drive and toejam and earl. When I completed all the parts so I could return to funkatron, that was special as I couldn't finish it as a kid!

I've had a lot of crazy shit happen to me in video games, but perhaps my favorite moment was when I accomplished this in GTAV:
Image
I was in the middle of an intense chase with the cops and I somehow, some way, managed to get myself stuck on a billboard. I just sat there in awe...admiring my work. (and yes, I stole one of their vehicles)
