Added the videos from Gamescom to the OP.

I don't have a lot to say about this game, but it just looks *fun*.

I'm interested to see how they balance everything going on in an actual MP experience. I get this feeling of authenticity from the trailers, but I'm not sure if that will translate when you get actual players in the game.

I do get this warm feeling hearing all the old Star Wars sound effects in a new game. I might end up getting this day 1, but we will see.

Yeah, I'm afraid this game might get lost in the shuffle for me.

Generally if I don't start a MP game on day 1, I never get into it. Though, with a 40 player cap, seems like the game is more about replicating your fantasy Star Wars experience than being a competitive MP game.

Yeah I figure during that time I will still be playing the Uncharted Collection and it's only a couple weeks away from Fallout 4. Then again a MP game is easier to play quickly and drop without feeling like I am giving up or something. I did also want to wait and see how the servers hold up on launch.

I'm very interested to see how the game handles. They have said many times that they are placing a good amount of aim assist, both on foot and flying. I'm all for making this game accessible to the masses but I still want to a competitive shooter. Not everyone should be able to tag some womp rats.

Star Wars Battlefront | Multi-Platform Discussion

Aug 10, '15, 5:50am

I worry about this game. Granted, I don't have much reason to based on what they've shown so far; the sense of immersion is absolutely breathtaking and the game looks and sounds unbelievable. But how long will that initial "wow" factor last? Will this game still be fun to play when I'm 100 matches in? Beyond just getting a chance to relive Star Wars battles, where is the hook that keeps me coming back over and over again?

This game is almost entirely multiplayer, so in my opinion, the multiplayer modes, progression systems, and moment-to-moment gameplay need to be damn near perfect to justify the $60 price tag. Right now I think I'm more excited we're getting a good-looking Star Wars game than I am about the game's actual content.

Compare Battlefront to, say, Call of Duty. The value proposition in Call of Duty is excellent. You get a short but satisfying campaign/story, a highly detailed multiplayer mode with well over a dozen maps, and a co-op wave mode of some kind (like Zombies). When you put 60 bucks down on a Call of Duty game, you know you're getting a lot of bang for your buck.

Meanwhile, Battlefront only has multiplayer, aside from a "mission" mode you can play locally (which I think has only been announced as a splitscreen mode, not necessarily single-player, but I may be wrong about that). The number of maps is "more than 8," according to DICE, and that's all they've said about it. There is a dogfighting mode, which is also multiplayer. And that's about it!

I'm sure this game will be nice and polished, but at this point I need to know more about the content before I buy. I came really close to preordering the Deluxe version of this out of pure Star Wars fanboyism, but after thinking on it a little more, I've decided to wait on some reviews first.
Playing now: Saturday Morning RPG, Final Fantasy II

Beaten recently: Final Fantasy 1, Persona 4 Golden, Metroid Zero Mission

Really want: the NX (probably), Battlefield 1, Titanfall 2, Bioshock Remastered, Horizon Zero Dawn, Persona 5

The biggest thing worrying me about this game is EA.

I'll most likely pick this game up. But after a week or two. This seems like the type of title that will have a few patches in the first month. I'm not big into multiplayer so the lack of a single player campaign is a negative to me. But I'll play for a little bit because I enjoyed the first two and it looks like you can separate yourself from the battle and explore a bit.

I'm excited for this game, but it's certainly not a day 1 purchase for me. I'll be knee deep into Fallout 4 and Halo 5's multiplayer (hopefully it works) by then so I won't have time for much else. I also am not thrilled with it being online only with no campaign, so I want to see how the community develops and make sure the infrastructure works first.

Re: Star Wars Battlefront | Multi-Platform Discussion

Beta is coming to all platforms in October.

Ever since we revealed Star Wars™ Battlefront™ in April at Star Wars™ Celebration, you've been asking us if there would be a Beta. Today, we are thrilled to finally be able to answer that question, and the answer is yes!

Coming early October to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and on Origin for PC, the Star Wars Battlefront Beta* is a technical test and will feature Walker Assault on Hoth, a 40-player multiplayer battle featuring Rebels and the Empire. Walker Assault will also give you the chance to play as two of the most iconic characters in the Star Wars™ universe: Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker. The Beta will also feature our Survival Mission on Tatooine, where you and a Rebel friend must fight back waves of Imperial forces.

In addition to those two modes, we are excited to reveal a brand-new mode that will be available in the Beta, Drop Zone. We’ll be sharing more details on Drop Zone in the weeks ahead.

As part of the Star Wars Battlefront Beta we are also happy to reveal the Star Wars Battlefront Companion experience. Available during the Beta at www.StarWarsBattlefront.com, the Star Wars Battlefront Companion experience features the strategic card game Base Command, and lets you earn in-game Credits that unlock Star Cards, weapons, and more in Star Wars Battlefront. In addition to Base Command, the Companion also lets Rebels and Imperials alike check game stats and progression, customize load-outs and appearance, connect with friends, and get notified when they’re playing Star Wars Battlefront – as well as gather intel on their stats and progression so you can see how you match up! The Star Wars Battlefront Companion will be available on web and in the Apple App Store™ and Google Play™ store prior to the release of Star Wars Battlefront on November 17.

We'll have a lot more info regarding the Star Wars Battlefront Beta in the weeks ahead, so be sure to stay tuned to this page, follow us on social, and sign-up for our newsletter to get all the latest news.

Glad they are doing this so they can work out whatever is needed for a smooth launch in November. I will certainly be trying this out.

At the worst I would guess maybe you have to pre-order then maybe they do a CoD and open it to everyone for a day or two to do a stress test.

I don't have any interest in Battlefront, so I'm just going to leave this here for those whom it may concern on the off chance that it wasn't already read through another channel.

im not extremely hyped for it and intended to pick it up a couple of months after release when it's cheaper, but the lack of a server browser means it will be a bitch to find a match on pc that late after release.
