There's not enough Maps.

Walker Assault, the big featured game mode, has only four maps. Supremacy, the other large-scale mode, also has just four maps.

In DICE's previous Battlefield games we'd get approximately a dozen large-scale maps, and then the infantry maps would basically be smaller cut-outs from those maps. But they didn't count these cut-outs as separate maps. So when the developers said they'd release the game with 12 maps I thought Battlefront would work the same way. It doesn't.

So while I had a great time with the game last night, I don't think I can pour time into this game as I did with Battlefield. Seeing the same map every hour is a little discouraging.

Star Wars Battlefront | Multi-Platform Discussion

Nov 19, '15, 3:27pm

My thoughts on the game:

The visuals and sound are outstanding. Dice did a fantastic job capturing the Star Wars feel.

The game controls very much like past Battlefield games.

I found the game relatively easy to get into. I was holding my own for the most part unlike other online shooters (COD) where I usually get manhandled.

There are many different game modes available but I'm not sure how much they'll be played. I have tried every mode but my favourites are "Blast" (basically 10 vs. 10 team deathmatch) and "Drop Zone". Supremacy and Walker Assault is a little more in line with traditional Battlefield and is what I can see people gravitating towards.

I've played about 4 - 5 hours so far with a group of friends and we've been having a blast. It's a fun, simple, more casual game that's best when playing with others.

It is a little shallow in terms of content. Make no mistake - this is an online shooter. From a standalone perspective the "missions" and survival mode does not make this game worth buying.

Happy to report everything is running really smooth. I was part of the BF4 problem with my launch day PS4.

One pet peeve of mine. You get into vehicles by grabbing power ups out in the field and then choosing to activate them. It would have been cool to be able to hop in vehicles that spawn directly in the level. I found this takes away from the feel of the game.

In some of the smaller playlists spawning can sometimes be an issue. I'm sometimes finding myself spawning in front of or near an opposing player and I get killed instantly.

And unless I'm missing something, it looks like they got rid of the 4 player squads you can create or join within the larger team. In Battlefield it allowed you to spawn on your squad mates. Battlefront seems to have ditched this in favor of having one partner. It sucked to play the game with 2 friends - ended up leaving one of us out without a partner.

There's no question that this game is fun. The content you get for $60 and the fact that you'll need to spend $50 + on DLC or Season Pass is questionable.

Quiet in here...

Image

$39.99 is still too high for me but if Best Buy price matches that would make it ~$30 GCU. I created a backlog for myself with single player title purchases from Black Friday... but I don't currently have a go-to multiplayer game. Big Star Wars fan, and I enjoyed the beta. Trying to decide if $30 would be a good price point...

Thoughts? Or has this ship already sailed? No posts in three weeks. Yikes?

Have no interest in playing the game (though a multiplayer shooter is an extremely hard sell for me), but most opinions I've read/heard about the game can be summarized as follows:
  • The game is pretty
  • It is very Starwars (appearance and sound)
  • The game lacks mechanical depth
A few people I work with really like it, but I wouldn't classify them among the hardcore gamers.

I love is game! I keep falling into the trap of just one more match and hours later I'm still playing, I've being playing walker assault, blast mode and the new turning point game mode. With 4 dlc packs planned I can see me spending so much time with this game. :kinda

I'm still playing this game and still having fun. A lot of my friends are online.

It's been a great go to when I can't commit lots of time. Very easy to pick up and play a few rounds.

I'm not really into online games especially online shooters, but hearing people say it's more of a simple casual shooter has definitely got me interested.

It's worth it in my books.

Even for those that aren't really into online multiplayer.

This is a casual game that's pretty easy to pick up and play.

They nailed the Star Wars feel.

Haven't touched it since I got the Platinum. My friends and I usually defer to Rocket League if we're going to play something online together now and I've been focusing on single player games in my back log as well.

Having said that, it's definitely a game I'd recommend. It really makes you feel like you're in a Star Wars battle and is a solid online shooter if that's what you're looking for. I can see myself popping on from time to time whether with friends or by myself :kinda

I was way more into this game than most at first, getting my level up in the low 40s but inevitably I took a break since my PS4 was brand new and I had so much else to get through. I expected to get right back into as soon as the DLC started coming out. But after seeing what they have lined up for the year I can't say anything really has me excited to come back (although I know I eventually will). Anyone else in the same boat?

Cheapest I've seen it.

Personally still waiting for some type of DLC bundle.

Is $8.99 worth it? I feel like the answer is yes... But I really want something that includes the dlc, even if I have to pay $20 for the bundle. Do we have ANY bundle information?

How cheap has the Season Pass gone?

I can't decide what to do... I've wasted $9 before on other things, so it's not going to kill me. I would just be really annoyed to have to rebuy the game.

Hence, my patience thus far for a bundle of some sort lol. Based on the feedback from the community, the DLC puts meat on the bones for this game.
