Chester Bennington, Link Park singer, found dead at 41

Jul 20, '17, 11:39am

Daily Mail wrote:Linkin Park singer Chester Bennington has committed suicide.

TMZ reports the 41-year-old hanged himself at a private residence in Palos Verdes Estates in Los Angeles County on Thursday morning.

Law enforcement officials say his body was found shortly before 9am. The singer had a history of drug and alcohol abuse. He had six children from his two marriages. He had been married to model Talinda Ann Bentley for 12 years.

Bennington's suicide came on the day of his late friend Chris Cornell's birthday. The Soundgarden rocker killed himself in May by hanging.
Chester, as well as Linkin Park guitarist Brad Delson, had performed Leonard Cohen's 'Hallelujah' for the crowd of mourners at Cornell's funeral.

This one hits me hard. Linkin Park was a big deal for me in high school. We're losing way too many people to treatable mental health issues. kfcry

RIP Chester.

Holy shit. Man that sucks. I wish people with more money would take better care of themselves especially with kids. RIP Chester. Hopefully your kids make it out of this okay.

Sad to hear yet another artists loses his battle with his demons.

Their presence in the musical world for their time was astronomical, and while I felt their best days were behind them, many of those albums are absolutely a main part of my younger days.

Sad that 6 kids just lost their dad. (PS: Its sad whenever children lose a parent, regardless of their stature/public presence)

Fuck. Another gone too soon.

I can't imagine how many troubled kids Linkin Park have been an outlet for over the years, it's a tragedy he couldn't beat his demons.

I didn't realize that song was so recent. You are probably right about it being a cry for help

That and a lot of their songs are very heavy, and I don't mean music wise but lyrically. It's not something that just popped up one day, he's been struggling for many years. But it certainly adds more weight to the songs he has sung over the years. I never thought they they were just writing edgy music for the sake of it, but this really put's those songs into perspective.

I have been a Linkin Park fan for over a decade, listening to their songs through the good times in my life and through the bad. This sucks on so many levels. I just hope that he's found peace whatever the afterlife holds.

I gotta tell you this was a total gut punch. I mean, I don't listen to Linkin Park a ton these days, but they still are one of my favorite bands ever and definitely were a huge part of my life during my formative years. Recently I did feel like I reconnected a bit with them when one more light came out. Also they were one of the bands I turned to quite a bit when I was super depressed with and it helped me to feel like I wasn't alone and there were others that went through what I was going through at the time.

It just saddens the shit out me, and especially after they just released the song one more light, and the whole situation with Chris Cornell. Its just devastating and goes to show that mental illness is serious and if you ever have thoughts or feelings of suicide you are not alone and you need to seek help!

It just saddens the fucking hell out of me. Shit. I hate it.

This was sad to hear. Whilst I'm not a massive Linkin Park fan I did enjoy listening to a couple of their songs. However I'll always remember when I was about 9/10 I was watching MTV and the song Crawling came on and I was captivated by it. It was the first heavy rock song I remember listening to and I loved it. I used to wait for them to replay it - I even wrote my own song based on the tune haha!
