Music With Non-English Vocals

Nov 19, '17, 1:49am

What tunes do you listen too that aren't in English?

Here are a couple of my favorites:

Blumenkranz is my favorite German song by far. The lyrics are here.

Ny Batteri by Sigur Pos is a sung in Vonlenska. Volenska isn't actually a language. It's merely audible vocals that lack meaning but fit with the flow of the song.

When I was in high school one of my friends' was really into anime and Japanese culture and got me into music from anime a little bit, I haven't listened to any music that wasn't in English since then. I can't even remember any of the songs off the top of my head.

It's funny that you mention that considering the German song I posted is from an Anime.

That song is actually sung in icelandic. Sigur Ros does sing a lot of their stuff in the made up language, but a lot are actually Icelandic too.

This is one that is in Vonlenska (as is the whole album this song is from)

That band is confusing as fuck. Still counts as non English though.

Mostly stuff I probably shouldn't admit to. I don't actively listen to any of this, but sometimes I'm in the mood, and this is my go to stuff.

For one there's the German? version of 99 Red Balloons. Idk why I just like it better than the English version.

Then we've got Psy. I won't bother posting any of his stuff. If you don't know Psy, that's your problem.

And lastly we have the guilty pleasure stuff that I should probably keep to myself. Don't fuckin judge me. portilloDismissed

I will judge you and you've got nothing to be guilty about. I made a whole thread about my favorite K-Pop songs. SeemsGood

One of my favorites is Malaguena Salarosa, particularly the cover by Chingon from the Kill Vill Vol2 soundtrack. Live performance, with Robert Rodriguez (filmaker) on guitar, below.

I kinda find this to be a weird idea for a thread, as there were already a lot of songs with non English vocals on the other music thread.

But maybe that is just me NotLikeThis

Music With Non-English Vocals

As soon as I saw this post I immediately thought of one song. I just spent the last half hour convinced that I was looking for an Asian Kung-Fu Generation song (my favorite J-Rock band) only to find out that I was looking for songs from the wrong band because the song I was thinking of was FLOW's Re:member.

https://youtu.be/1i0GcfVtKC4

I feel like an idiot for mixing them up. In my defense, the voices of the lead singers are slightly similar (at least in this song). And it's such a pain to look for a song when you have no idea how to write the lyrics to it, haha. At any rate, thanks for the post. I haven't listened to J-Rock in years. Feels like it's time to dive back into it for a while.

Back in high school and college, DDR was popular and I was into anime, so I did listen to quite a bit of J-Pop from those soundtracks. Not so much anymore.
