I hope it's better than last series. It wasn't bad but felt somewhat of a misstep, I had mixed feelings on The Abominable Bride too. Still, it's good to have Sherlock back.

My brother and I also won't too keen on the last series and we were trying to think about why. I think it might be because the episodes focused more on Sherlock and the gangs lives and the cases seemed to take a backseat compared to the previous series were there was one main case that was the focus of each episode. Hopefully this series we will get a good mix of both.

Solid first episode but I wasn't blown away. I think I am growing tired of Benedict Cumberbatch and his version of Sherlock, too often he is a caricature of himself. Some good plot points though and a surprising end.

I wasn't overly impressed but then again I never cared about the series much. I share the thoughts expressed in the IGN review (can't open IGN at work to link the review)

I personally thought the episode was alright, there was something I didn't like but i'll hold that for spoiler text, but hoping the next 2 episodes increase in quality and get back to form. I feel the show is acting too much like a movie where things need to be bigger and better and while doing so is losing sight of what made the show great in the first place.

I just read that review now and I agree that it does very well at summing up the problems. There was actually very little Sherlockery in this episode, the explanation of the body in the car was probably the best bit we got. As somebody pointed out in the comments too the whole episode's plot was entirely coincidental and unbelievable, relying on implausible connections to move things along as opposed to any detective work.

Here it is for anybody else who wants to read: http://uk.ign.com/articles/2017/01/02/s ... ers-review

The Lying Detective was one of my favourite episodes. Way better than the first of the season. There was a couple of elements I didn't think worked but are forgiven because overall it is a fantastic episode. Loved it.

This episode had me gripped! Loved Toby Jones as the villain, he really creeped me out lol Also the twist at the end was a great surprise as I didn't see that coming. Looking forward to next week when I assume Sherlock and John are back to being the dream team =D

I personally thought the episode 2 was rather confusing, still great. But there was plenty of things where was too much of "I know you'd do this" kinda of stuff from Sherlock.

Toby Jones as good -- and honestly, i thought he was going to be the big bad for this season -- but clearly, the ending shows a much different turn of events.

Feels like its the last season -- seems like they have done as much as they can with all these characters without being redundant.

Yeah it was an excellent episode and certainly had me questioning if Sherlock was right or not.

I think the reason I didn't have a problem with this is it was mostly explained like how Sherlock knew about the therapist because he knew John wanted a female and could only go on his lunch break. It was way better than the first episode anyway where Sherlock didn't actually work much out for himself (then nearly got himself killed through stupidity).
