Oprah vs Trump

Jan 09, '18, 7:41pm

How do you feel about this potential matchup in 2020? Who do you think would win if she ran?

I don't think Trump will run again and risk losing. That being said, if that was the match-up it would be very close in the end. I think Trump might just edge her out, especially if the economy is booming by the time the election rolled around.

Oprah vs Trump

Jan 09, '18, 8:44pm

I think it's a sad joke on America that either one can legitimately be president. Neither one has the experience or the knowledge needed to run the country. They belong in show business not politics. With that said, Oprah's popularity is nothing to scoff at. If she ran she has a great chance of winning against Trump.

You mean still booming!

Oprah has a fuck ton of dirt to dig up on her, Im not sure she even wins the primary. Support for the Iraq war, Vaxxers, Fake Healing Rocks, Weinstein!!!
Let alone her business practices. When 50% of the Democratic Party are outright socialists, running a billionaire business person with a track record of staunch CAPITALISM is going to cause a hard fought battle. With the marxist wing of the Democratic Party going for probably Pocahontas, and the racist wing going for Oprah. With the sexists split between which her to be with, and the racists calling out all white people who don't vote Oprah!

Then you throw Joe Biden in there. Taking a middle ground I'm not crazy approach.

It would be quite the fun thing to watch.

As for Trump's chances. His policies are working. Things are improving. The economy at an astounding rate. If they continue to work I think he easily wins reelection. The media can create doom and gloom propaganda all day, but when your job is good, your retirement account is growing, and America's enemies are collapsing, it won't matter what garbage they say about him. Count the number of incumbent Presidents who lost a second term during a booming economy. Count the number incumbent Presidents who lost a second term against an opponent pledging to raise taxes.

I live in the bay area, and everyone around here hates Trump, or at least joins in to not lose their jobs. But at the same time 2017 was the best year in over a decade! For the company I work for, and practically every other one in this valley.

Prosperity is hard to vote against.

Bernie may run again. Even Ben Shapiro thinks he would win against Trump if he ran.

It's really tough to imagine who's going to run in 2020. Part of me wants to say Trump will run again but who the hell knows. The dude probably wasn't even thinking he was going to be President in the first place. Also, I do subscribe to the theory that he wouldn't run again because he wouldn't want to risk losing. That's a viable angle that has been thrown around a lot. I can see that happening.

As for Bernie, I personally don't think he's going to run again. If he did, I honestly can't see him winning. Sure, he'd be the exact opposite of what Trump was but man, his economic policies. All his Republican opponent would have to do during a debate is ask him about his economic policy. They would then proceed to pick it apart live on stage. And maybe I'm awful for saying this...but I don't even think Bernie will survive till 2024 (if he did win) so I'd be more interested to see who his running mate would be lol!

Finally, in regards to Oprah, Kanye, the Rock, etc; hasn't America learned their lesson?

God damn it put someone who knows what they're doing in office in 2020! Is that so much to ask!? portilloDismissed

I think America learned the exact opposite lesson. Trump opened the flood gates for inexperienced populists. It's good that career politicians are not guaranteed their seats anymore but we need smart people that know what they are talking about. I'd vote for someone like Sam Harris in a heartbeat. And as for Bernie's age, Trump is only 5 years younger than him.

Well, look on the bright side, Trump would have had at least 4 years experience by then.

This is so true and accurate, it needed repeating.

I appreciate that the last election helped to show that, yes, anyone can run and win the presidency (as long as you have a sh*t ton of money to help you campaign). That being a life-long politician shouldn't count as your career and that you are guaranteed a job from here on out.

But lets not throw anyone who is a politician out in favor of Joe Q. Public b/c anyone can do it. People becoming interested/involved/participating in their local, city, and state government is a good thing. But lets not completely lose our senses (too late). Having knowledge, understanding, and experience in the very thing you are going into is not a bad thing.

Please, can I have neither...

I just want someone who speaks like Obama, has the support of the young like Sanders and is moderate

Is that too much to ask for?

That's ironic since Oprah came from a poor family and made billions by pulling herself up from her bootstraps. Meanwhile Trump got handouts from his rich dad.

You won't find any moderate supporting socialists.

And as for speaking like Obama, well pretty much anyone who wanted to can because Obama was not an authentic person, he was a collection of PR people and speech writers crafting each statement. Only very rarely could we hear Obama actually in his voice and words. Only very rarely did we ever see him without a teleprompter, speaking off the cuff.

I might not like what Trump is saying all the time, but at least its actually him. Its not a market researched polished statement made up by a team of ivy league grads.

Trump will be the Republican nominee, except if he doesn't run. And the Democrats will either pick someone based on having a vagina or dark skin, or based on how well they love Karl Marx.

There will be no moderate. Moderates lose!

We could be having a second Mitt Romney term right now! portilloIndeed But no he was a moderate and because he was a moderate he didn't attack the media and left as Trump did, he didnt go dirty as it was needed to win. He let them smear him as sexist for having a binder full of resumes of women he was going to consider for roles in his administration.

That is how corrupt the leftist media is, the man was trying to have gender diversity in his cabinet and they twisted it into a sexist attack. Then comes along Trump, says fuck you to the media, and wins it all!

Was Mitt Romney Moderate? He seemed pretty to the right and tax cuts would be doing the same thing Trump is right now (some of the business stuff is good but the tax cuts on more individuals is a joke)

You know there was a time when tax cuts were a bipartisan issue. When Democrats understood how the economy works and supported allowing people to keep what they earned. JFK famously cut taxes, and it worked. When Reagen cut taxes, most Democrats voted with the Republicans. Even Obama extended the Bush tax cuts.

If cutting taxes is not a moderate issue, it is only due to Democratic party embracing the far left, failed, and evil ideology of Socialism.

I don't see the tax cuts really doing me any good, I'm getting a thousand more dollars a year at max, sure it helps anything would but I need like my taxes cut in half to make real headway
